Mister Pickles - Stoutville, Ohio
Mister Pickles – The Christmas Kitty was shot in December last year. He’s a pretty old cat who was rescued early on from a prison in southern Ohio. My brother was chaplain there and brought him home. Panasonic LUMIX DMC LX2 set at ISO 400 and forced flash.
Winter Landscape
Winter Landscape was shot between Browning, MT and East Glacier MT in February 2009. It was as cold as it looks. Click on the image. Shot this with a Panasonic LUMIX DMC LX2
Reaching for the Sky - Tulsa, Oklahoma Reaching for the Sky - I was just about to leave the Tulsa Air and Space Museum when the juxtaposition of a little girl reaching skyward and the F-14 Tomcat caught my eye. Shot this 06 March 2009 with a Panasonic LUMIX DMC LX2 set at ISO 1600.

KARZ - Columbus, Ohio

Mercedes Sport Coupe and Cadillac CTS - I enjoy taking pictures of cars - and while waiting at the airport in Columbus, Ohio for someone to pick me up - I'll just plink away at whatever is rolling past the passenger pick-up area. Ever now and again - I'll get a good shot. Double click on the images. Panasonic LUMIX DMC-LX2 at ISO 200.

The Bugle - Browning, Montana
The Bugle - I think that's the expression for when Elk are doing their mating call. This metallic Elk stands outside the Indian Health Service Hospital in Browning, Montana. I park near him every time I drive in for a night shift in the emergency department. This particular afternoon the ceilings were descending - and it looked like more snow was in the offing. Panasonic LUMIX DMC LX2 ISO 400.

Tiger Swallowtail
Tiger Swallowtail – While wandering around a state park near Medina, Ohio 19 August 2006 – I spied this specimen. On a lark, I put an extension tube on the camera and a telephoto lens. The extension allowed me to focus a lot closer – and I got a nice big image. Asahi Pentax SP (Spotmatic) w/Extension Tube + 200mm F:4.0 Super Takumar

Leica IIIc
Leica IIIc with a 50mm F:2.0 Summitar lens - the quintessential "Barnack Leica." It has shutter speeds 1-second to 1/1000th sec. Rangefinder is seperate from the viewfinder, which can slow things down a bit while shooting - but it is bright and easy to use. There is no accommodation for using flash – which suits me just fine. I have yet to do any serious shooting with this old bird – but I recently had it overhauled – so it is ready for the call. I had one back in the late 1960’s and just wanted another for my working collection.
Then and Now
Then and now . . .
Douglas A2D Skyshark – photographed at Pacific Fighters, Idaho Falls, Idaho on 01 August 2006. Only twelve of these beasts were ever made. Imagine a Douglas Skyraider on steroids . . . This is (SFAIK) the sole surviving example and is not airworthy. When I asked if they think they’ll ever get this into the air, the folks at Pacific Fighters just laughed good-naturedly. “Far too complex a machine. . .” Nikon FE2 w/Sigma 35-70mm zoom lens and 400 ASA Fuji color negative film.
